My mother, Hermina Coetzer (née Fick), re-marries in 1971. My stepfather, Willa Oberholzer, works as a clerk for the State Tender Board in Pretoria, and can afford a comfortable house that becomes, over more than three decades, a home for me, my sister and stepfamily.
