Directly after the birth of the new South Africa, a number of reform initiatives like the Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) and Masakhane are launched. For five years (1994-1999), I am involved in the production of educational cartoons for emerging farmers. The effectiveness of this type of knowledge transfer is often debated, but nonetheless, in cooperation with the Agricultural Research Council, I produce thirty cartoons that are distributed by the thousands in rural communities.
